Varsity & Satin Jackets
Wool melton with leather sleeves, full melton, satin, corduroy. One all-in price with freight and US duty inside it.
Pattern-making and duty included. Credited in full against your first order
Decoration is the product here. Nobody buys a varsity jacket for the body fabric; they buy it for the letter on the chest, the name on the back, and the way the ribbing sits. Which is why most varsity orders that go wrong, go wrong on a patch rather than on a seam.
So this page is about proofs, placement and tolerance — the things that decide whether twenty people are pleased with their jackets or one of them is holding a misspelled name.

Who it is for
Who this is for
Streetwear brands doing a drop, and organisers buying for a team, a chapter, a school or a company.
The two buy differently. A brand wants the make and the finish to carry a price; an organiser wants certainty about a date and a list of names spelled correctly. We publish the cut-off dates for group orders so the second buyer does not have to ask.

Chenille, embroidery and lettering
The part that gets varsity orders rejected. All of it is included in the price, proofed before production, and held to a stated tolerance.
| Option | What it is | Cost | How it behaves |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chenille patch | Looped yarn, the classic varsity letter | Included | Proofed before production |
| Embroidered patch | Flat stitch, fine detail | Included | Good for small logos |
| Leather patch | Debossed or printed | Included | Pairs with leather sleeves |
| Woven patch | Fine thread, photographic detail | Included | Best for complex artwork |
| Direct embroidery | Stitched into the garment itself | Included | No patch edge to lift |
| Names and numbers | Twill, chenille or embroidered | Included | Proofed back to you in writing |
Send artwork as vector where you can. If all you have is a photograph or a sketch, we redraw it and send you the proof before anything is cut — the redraw is inside the sample fee.
Placement is proofed to ±5 mm and we photograph the first piece off the line against the proof. A piece outside tolerance is remade at our cost.
The real fear with a group order is standing in front of twenty people holding a jacket with a misspelled name on it. That is what the proof step exists for, and why we send every name back to you in writing before a single stitch goes in.
What is actually in the jacket
The specification we work to unless you ask for something different.
| Part | Specification |
|---|---|
| Body | 24 oz wool-blend melton, or satin |
| Sleeves | Full-grain or top-grain leather, or matching body fabric |
| Ribbing | Cotton-acrylic rib at collar, cuffs and hem, striped to your colours |
| Front | Snap placket, antique brass or nickel |
| Lining | Quilted polyester as standard |
| Pockets | Welt pockets at the waist, inner pocket on request |
| Labels | Woven main label, care and content label, size label |
The flats above are the drawings our cutters work from, with the tolerance our inspectors check against. Your order is measured to the same numbers.
Sizing and size runs
Varsity is cut generously, which helps: a size run that would be tight in a biker jacket is usually comfortable here.
For group orders we take a name-and-size list in any format — a spreadsheet, or a photograph of a handwritten one — and send it back to you to confirm before production.

Varsity is cut generously by design. A size that would be tight in a biker jacket is usually comfortable here.
Your sample confirms the fit before production. We measure it with you, adjust the block, and your approved piece becomes the standard the whole order is checked against.

Questions buyers ask
Questions buyers ask about varsity orders
Everything we are asked before a first order, answered here rather than in an email thread.
We proof placement, size and colour and you approve it in writing. Placement tolerance is ±5 mm, we photograph the first piece off the line against your proof, and anything outside tolerance is remade at our cost.
Melton is denser, holds its shape and photographs better; wool blends drape softer and cost less. Satin sits in a different market again and is lighter to ship, though it carries a higher US duty rate than melton — worth checking on the shipping page before you choose on price.
Tell us the date first and we will answer the same working day, including when the answer is no. We publish the latest order date for each quantity so you can work it out yourself before contacting anyone.
We remake that piece. Personalisation is proofed back to you before production precisely so this does not happen, but if it gets past both of us it is ours to fix.
